The prominent antiques dealers, Arthur S. Vernay, Inc. of New York had a summer shop in Newport form 1929 through the summer of 1938.  They designed and produced several interesting pieces of commemorative glass throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s.  This was done after the famous race of 1937.

Ranger was built at cost for $ 500,000 and was funded solely by Mr. Vanderbilt. It was launched at the Bath Iron Works in Maine, 11 May 1937. Ranger never sailed again after winning the race and was sold for scrap in May of 1941 for $12,000.

The Endeavor (II) was launched 8 June 1936 and had the greatest length overall, and the tallest rig of any J Class boat. It was laid up later in 1947 and sold for scrap 10 years later.
